Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

How we work, what we build, and where your data lives. If your question isn’t here, send a two-sentence brief and we’ll answer within 24 hours.

Working with us
How does an engagement start?

Send a two-sentence brief and we reply within 24 hours. If a Forge slot is open, kickoff is days away, not months. Current-quarter availability is shown on the contact section.

What do you need from us to begin?

A problem worth solving and access to whoever owns it. Architecture, build, and deployment are ours, with production code from week one.

How much does a build cost?

Fixed scope, no hourly billing. Tell us what you're building on a 30-minute call and you'll leave with a number.

How many projects do you take on at once?

At full depth, two client sprints is sustainable and three is where quality starts to slip. The limit isn't coding hours, it's how many separate systems one person can hold in their head. We cap slots around that reality.

What happens after launch?

Weeks 11–12 of every Forge build are hardening: performance, security, monitoring, and docs. After that, a Masthead Evolve retainer keeps the bench on call if you want ongoing work.

Services
What's the difference between Forge, Masthead, and Orbit?

Forge is custom software on a fixed 12-week scope. Masthead is websites built from scratch, structured so AI search can read and quote them. Orbit is where we build a product with you and take a stake instead of a full fee.

What if a Forge build runs long?

The price is fixed, so a build running long is our problem to solve, not your invoice to absorb. That's the point of the structure, and why we scope tightly before we sign.

How is Masthead Evolve different from a retainer?

Evolve is scoped per quarter and bills for work shipped, not hours logged. Each cycle has a defined output. A retainer bills for time regardless of what ships — same cadence, opposite incentive.

Products
What is MarginIQ?

A chatbot trained on the proposals and rate cards buried in your files. It drafts quotations, builds estimates, and answers pricing questions against your own data in seconds, not hours.

What is Pulse?

Pulse is in development. It lets you test a campaign before you spend on it: it builds hundreds of AI personas, runs them on simulated X and Reddit, and shows where sentiment moves and where the backlash lands before a real audience does.

What is Beacon, the free audit?

Beacon is a free scan that shows how AI answer engines see your site. It fetches your pages the way a non-rendering bot does, scores them on our rubric, and shows what's stopping models from quoting you.

AI answer engines
What is Answer Engine Optimization?

It's making your company legible and quotable to AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, so you appear in the answer they give a user directly, not only in a list of search results.

Does ranking #1 on Google mean I'm safe in AI answers?

No. Classic search ranking and AI-answer surfaces read different signals. You can rank first and still be absent from the answer a model writes.

What should I fix first to show up in AI answers?

Crawlability, almost always. If a non-rendering bot fetches your page and gets an empty shell, the model has nothing to read. Server-render your real content and clear your robots.txt and llms.txt directives first.

Data & security
Where does our data live?

We're a Barcelona SL and GDPR-first. Builds deploy to infrastructure you own, or that we manage on Vercel and Cloudflare in EU regions. NDA on request.

Are you GDPR-compliant? Is there a DPA?

Yes. GDPR-compliant practices by default, with a standard DPA template within 24 hours of request and a custom DPA negotiable for enterprise. The security page has the full picture.
